At the end of last summer, my friend Brenda gave me a call offering a place to come and stay in Myrtle Beach for this summer...we didn't even think twice about it and sent the money as soon as we could. We invited Chrissy, Dave, and Lucas to come along with us and could not have asked for a better time. The six of us stayed in one of seven homes surrounding a pool. The beach was a short five minute walk away. Each morning we headed out to the beach to run in the waves, collect
shells and play in the sand. Maggie lasted about an hour there each day before she either became too hot or just uninterested. We would spend the rest of our day at the pool, in between lunch and naps, swimming, jumping, splashing and just relaxing. Maggie and Lucas shared a room at the house that had two twin beds. The first night was rough as Maggie fell out bed early on, followed by Lucas (three times). The third time was the charm in our case because somehow, at only God knows what hour, Chrissy, Dave and I managed to get the mattresses on the floor so the kids were safe and they slept through the night every night after that! At the beginning of the week we were joined by our close friends, Scott, Kelli, and Tristan. They are from nearby North Caroline so it was a short trip for them and we are glad they were able to make it down for a visit. In the middle of the week we took turns
going out to dinner while the other couple stayed home with Maggie and Lucas, and then one night all six of our went out! The weather was more than we could have asked for, bright sunny days and a nice breeze. At the end of the week some clouds rolled in, but we still managed to stick to our routine. On Friday it was pouring in the morning so we loaded up the car and went to the aquarium, by the time the afternoon arrived the sun came right along with it and we managed to fit in one last pool day. By this time Lucas had perfected his cannonball and Maggie was swimming without her floaties! Last night when we got home Maggie was asking to go to the "vacation house" so I guess we are going to have to find a way to get back there again!
