Meow Mile
Maggie has wanted to do at least a mile race since the summer when she would go running with Andy. In Oswego they have a race I have done before, the Hobbler Gobbler, but it is the same weekend as the marathon and I knew Andy would want to see her run so when we got the flier in the mail for the Fraidy Cat 5K/Meow Mile we figured we might as well sign her up. Lucas wanted to do it too, so the two buddies had each other to run with which left siblings and parents to cheer them on. They wore their costumes for the race as many other runners did. They started together and finished together with smiles on their faces the whole time. When Maggie got to the car she said, "That was so fun!" I see more races in her future!
Leaves
In between soccer the girls and I have tried to get a lot of things done before Andy gets home from his cross country meets. The leaves have started to fall so the past few weekends we have headed out to get some fresh air and attempt to take care of the tons of leaves we have both in the front and back yard! They have had more fun playing in them than actually raking them...but that's what makes fall fun!
Fall Soccer 2014
Both Maggie and Molly decided to do soccer again this fall. Maggie got to play 4 versus 4. Most of the Saturdays for Molly were just practice, but her last two she actually got to play real games. They were very entertaining to watch. Both had a fun and learned more this season!
Keller's Farm
This year we made two trips to Keller's Farm. One earlier in the fall for apple picking. We usually go to an orchard that is further away, Keller's is literally down the street, takes about 5 minutes to get there. They put in apple trees a few years ago so we decided to give it a try. It was a great day and we got to pick any kind of apple we wanted! They even have apple cider donuts!!
We had back a few weeks ago to check out the pumpkin patch for the perfect pumpkins! There is plenty more to do there so we may make another trip yet again before the fall comes to an end!

Preschool for Molly
Well, its been a good three weeks since Molly started preschool. My own school has been in full swing, among other things, so yes it is past due for this post, but at least its not 6 months past due!! Molly had a meet and greet where she got to go meet her teacher before school started. Her teacher, Mrs. Adamson, was generous enough to let Chrissy and I bring Layla and Molly before the schedule time to accommodate our own work schedules. They got to get a donut ahead of time, see their classroom, play for a little bit, meet the teachers and even got a little goodie bag.
A little less than a week later it was Molly's big day. She was really excited to be going to a knew school, especially a school where Layla would be! This year Molly is going to God's Gift which is a preschool in Oswego. She is there 4 mornings a week and Leslie, our sitter, generously takes her and 4 other kids there for us. She is in a classroom with just 8 other friends. She is loving school, making friends and learning!

Maggie's First Day of 2nd Grade
Yesterday Maggie started 2nd grade. She was beyond excited for this day to arrive. She started asking back in July, but I wasn't quite ready for a countdown then so we waited till August and she counted everyday. Andy and I don't start work officially until Thursday, therefore we were both able to walk with her on her first day, it was a special treat. (This was a first for both of us since we are usually working at that time.)
Since Maggie was starting it was easiest to go ahead and have Molly start at the sitter (preschool actually starts in another few weeks). This way I could get into the classroom and get some work done while they were occupied. Maggie walks with a lot of friends from Miss Leslie's house. We met there for a quick picture and then we were on our way!
Andy was able to meet Maggie at the corner and walk with her on her way home today too. She reported she had a great day and she loves second grade. Her teacher sent a few pictures of the class too. But I can't seem to get them from there to here...I will keep trying!Sunday, August 17, 2014
Preview Night 2014
Maggie is beyond excited to start second grade...before August even hit she wanted to know how many days till school started which I did not want to discuss. Earlier this week she had her preview night where she could go and meet her teacher, see her classroom and find out who else is in her class.
This year Maggie has Mrs. Anderson. Maggie and Lucas anxiously awaited the day they could find out who their teacher was and they desparately wanted to be in the same class...they are not...but their classrooms are right next door to each other. They will still spend every morning together, walk to school and home from school together and see each other every afternoon.
Tomorrow is the big day!
